FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know about buying and selling on Thrifted.mt.
Buying
How do I buy an item?
Find an item you like, tap Buy Now, choose an available delivery method and complete Stripe checkout. Payment protection follows the selected handover method. For a meetup, inspect the item's condition, authenticity, size and fit before the seller scans your QR code. The verified scan completes the order immediately and authorises release to the seller. For EasiPik, a real MaltaPost collection scan starts a 48-hour protection window. Report a material mismatch before that window closes. The seller transfer is delayed during the EasiPik window and remains delayed if a dispute is opened in time.
Can I make an offer below the asking price?
Yes. On any listing, tap Make an Offer to send a price to the seller. The seller can accept, decline or ignore it. If accepted, you have 48 hours to complete the purchase before the offer expires.
What is the buyer protection fee?
The buyer protection fee is 5% of the item price plus EUR 0.50 and is added at checkout. For example, on a EUR 25.00 item the fee is EUR 1.75, so the buyer pays EUR 26.75 before any delivery charge. On a EUR 50.00 item the fee is EUR 3.00, so the buyer pays EUR 53.00 before delivery. The fee supports secure Stripe payment processing, method-specific payment protection and dispute handling when eligible. It is always shown as a separate line in the order summary before payment. If a full refund is issued, the buyer protection fee is refunded with the item price. A seller receives the listed item price before any optional mailed materials or other seller-funded adjustment. If the seller chooses mailed materials, the applicable service fee is deducted from the seller's proceeds for that order.
What if the item doesn't match the description?
For an EasiPik order, a real MaltaPost collection scan starts a post-collection protection window that lasts 48 hours. Open a dispute from the order before that window closes if the item materially differs from its listing. For a meetup, inspect the item before the seller confirms handover by scanning your QR code. That verified handover completes the sale immediately, so raise any concern before the scan and do not complete the exchange until it is resolved.
Can I return an item I just don't like?
When the seller is a private seller, a change of mind or buyer's remorse return is at that seller's discretion. Message them politely in the in-app chat and they may agree to cancel or refund where the order state allows it. This private-seller rule does not remove statutory rights that may apply when the seller is acting as a professional or business trader.
How do gift vouchers work?
Gift vouchers let you give Thrifted credit. Buy one from the Gift Cards page, then share its link or code with the recipient. The recipient applies it at checkout and can use it across eligible purchases. Vouchers are partially redeemable: if only part of the value is used, the remainder stays on the voucher for a later purchase. A voucher expires 24 calendar months after purchase.
Can I refund a gift voucher?
Yes, within 14 days of purchase as long as no part of the voucher has been redeemed. Open Profile, then Gift Vouchers and tap Refund beside the eligible voucher. Once any value has been used or the 14-day period has ended, the voucher is non-refundable through this flow. Contact [email protected] if you need help checking its status.
I lost my gift voucher code — can you resend it?
The purchaser is the only person who can request a resend. If you bought the voucher, open Profile, then Gift Vouchers and tap Resend beside it. If you are the recipient and no longer have the code, ask the person who bought it to resend it from their account.
Selling
How do I list an item for sale?
Tap Sell and upload at least one photo and no more than 8 photos of the actual item. Useful angles include the front, back, care label and brand tag plus clear close-ups of any flaw. The AI assistant may suggest a title, description, category, condition, brand and price from the images. These are AI suggestions, not verified facts. Review every field and correct anything inaccurate before publishing. Choose the delivery methods you can fulfil, review the final listing and tap Publish. Some listings may be routed to manual review when automated checks identify a possible issue. Listing remains free with no listing fee, monthly subscription or per-photo charge.
What are the selling fees?
Thrifted.mt charges sellers 0% commission on the listed item price. There is no listing fee, per-item commission or monthly subscription. Buyers pay the 5% plus EUR 0.50 buyer protection fee at checkout rather than having it taken from the seller's item price. Sellers can choose an optional mailed shipping service for EasiPik orders. A mailed label costs EUR 0.79 and a mailed polybag plus label kit costs EUR 1.29. If selected, that service fee is deducted from the seller's proceeds for the affected order. For example, a EUR 30.00 item has EUR 30.00 in seller proceeds before any optional mailed-material fee or other seller-funded adjustment. Current sales proceeds are paid through Stripe Connect after the applicable handover or protection period.
How do I get paid?
Current sales are paid through Stripe Connect. Complete payout onboarding and link your bank account so Stripe can receive the released sale proceeds for payout. The Thrifted wallet is not the payout route for current sales. Manual IBAN withdrawal on the Wallet page applies only if you still have a legacy wallet balance from sales completed before the Stripe Connect migration.
How long until I receive my money?
For a meetup order, the seller confirms handover by scanning the buyer's QR code after the buyer has inspected the item. The sale is released immediately when that verified scan completes. For an EasiPik order, drop-off alone does not start the release clock. A real MaltaPost collection scan must show that the buyer collected the parcel. The seller's funds are released 48 hours after that scan unless an eligible dispute is opened during the protection window. Current sales use Stripe Connect rather than manual wallet withdrawal. After Thrifted releases a current-sale transfer, the time for proceeds to reach the connected bank account depends on Stripe, the seller's payout-account status and the bank.
What items am I not allowed to sell?
Thrifted.mt is a fashion marketplace for clothing, shoes, bags and accessories. Counterfeit or imitation branded goods, unhygienic items and products not related to fashion are prohibited. Normal wear, a repairable flaw or other damage is not automatically prohibited when it is safe to sell, shown clearly in the photos and accurately described. We may remove an item when its condition creates a safety or hygiene concern or when the listing does not describe it honestly.
What is a listing boost?
A listing boost gives your item premium placement in eligible marketplace surfaces. Each credit adds 24 hours of premium placement. Boosted listings are visibly labelled with a Boosted badge so buyers can distinguish paid placement from other results.
How much does a boost cost?
Credits are available in three packs: Starter has 5 credits for EUR 1.49, Standard has 15 credits for EUR 2.49 and Pro has 35 credits for EUR 4.99. Every new account receives 2 free 24-hour boost credits at signup. Additional packs are purchased by card.
Can I boost a listing that's already boosted?
Yes. Boost durations stack, so added time starts after the listing's current boosted time. If 6 hours remain and you add one 24-hour credit, the listing has 30 hours of boosted placement in total. Applying three credits gives 72 continuous hours. You can apply a maximum of 7 credits to one boost action. The interface shows Extend boost while the listing is already boosted, and existing paid time is not discarded when more credits are added.
Delivery
What delivery options does Thrifted.mt offer?
Thrifted.mt offers free in-person meetup and EasiPik locker delivery for EUR 3.25. Sellers choose which available methods to offer and buyers select from those methods at checkout. For a meetup, the parties coordinate in the in-app chat and the buyer inspects the item before handover. The seller then scans the buyer's QR code. The verified scan completes the meetup immediately and authorises release to the seller. For EasiPik, the seller hands the parcel in at a MaltaPost branch or sub-post office for routing to the buyer's selected locker. A real MaltaPost collection scan starts the 48-hour protection window. The seller transfer remains delayed during that window and is released after it closes unless an eligible dispute was opened.
How does meetup delivery work?
After a sale, the buyer and seller arrange a convenient public place and time through the in-app chat. The buyer inspects the item before accepting it. At handover, the seller scans the buyer's QR code from the order page. The verified scan completes the order immediately and authorises release of the seller's funds.
How does EasiPik locker delivery work?
EasiPik costs EUR 3.25. The seller hands the parcel in at a MaltaPost branch or sub-post office and MaltaPost routes it to the buyer's chosen EasiPik locker. The buyer receives the collection PIN by SMS when the parcel is ready to collect. Tracking and readiness information appears on the order where available.
What if the buyer and seller can't agree on a meetup location?
Use the in-app chat to suggest a convenient public location that works for both of you, such as a town centre or another well-known place. If you genuinely cannot agree, contact the support team at [email protected] and we will help you resolve the order.
Payments
How are payments processed?
All checkout payments are processed by Stripe, a regulated PCI-compliant payment processor. Your card details never touch Thrifted's servers. Thrifted receives the payment result and the information needed to manage the order, not your full card number. Transfer timing depends on the delivery method. For a meetup, the seller's verified scan of the buyer's QR code completes the handover and authorises immediate release. For EasiPik, a real MaltaPost collection scan starts the protection period and the seller transfer remains delayed for 48 hours. An eligible dispute opened within that period keeps the transfer on hold while the case is reviewed. Current-sale proceeds are routed through Stripe Connect after release.
What currencies and payment methods do you accept?
All transactions on Thrifted.mt are in Euros (EUR). You can pay using the card or digital wallet options that Stripe displays for your checkout. The options shown can vary by device, account and the checkout configuration active at that time.
How are refunds handled?
When a refund is approved, Stripe sends it to the original payment method. The buyer protection fee is refunded too when the full order is refunded. The time it takes to appear depends on the buyer's bank or card issuer after Stripe processes it, so the arrival date is not controlled by Thrifted.mt.
Trust & Safety
How do I know a seller is trustworthy?
Sellers who complete identity checks through Stripe during payout onboarding can receive a verified badge. This does not mean every seller has completed payout onboarding or identity verification. Before buying, review the badge state, seller ratings, sale history and reviews shown on the profile. Keep payment and order coordination inside Thrifted.mt.
How is my payment protected?
Payments are processed through Stripe, with protection matched to the delivery method. For a meetup, inspect the item's condition, authenticity, size and fit before the seller scans your QR code. That verified handover completes the order immediately and authorises the seller's release, so raise concerns before the scan. For EasiPik, a real MaltaPost collection scan starts the 48-hour protection window. The seller transfer remains delayed during that window. You can open an eligible dispute before it closes if the item materially differs from its listing. A dispute opened in time keeps the transfer on hold while the case is reviewed. Statutory rights may also apply when the seller acts as a professional or business trader.
How do I open a dispute?
For an EasiPik order, open My Orders, select the order and tap Open an Issue during the 48 hours after the real MaltaPost collection scan. The current form provides a text box for a written description of the problem. Explain clearly how the item materially differs from its listing and submit the form before the window closes. The seller transfer is placed on hold while the report is reviewed. Meetup concerns work differently because the buyer can inspect the item in person. Raise any concern before handover, do not let the seller scan your QR code and contact support if the exchange cannot proceed. Once the seller's verified scan completes a meetup, the ordinary EasiPik post-collection dispute window does not apply.
What happens during a dispute?
Once an eligible dispute is opened, the seller transfer is placed on hold while the team reviews the order and the buyer's written report. Depending on the outcome, Thrifted.mt may refund the buyer or release the seller's funds. The order record is updated with the result.
How do I track my order?
Go to My Orders to see each order's current status and open its detail page. Statuses can include paid, handed over, delivered, disputed, cancelled or completed depending on the method and order history. Some important changes may also generate an in-app message, push notification or email when that channel is available.
Why might I need to verify my identity?
Stripe may require identity verification when you complete payout onboarding to receive proceeds from sales. A seller who completes the required checks can receive a verified badge on their profile and listings. Thrifted.mt may also ask for verification when an account is flagged for risk review or when additional checks are needed to keep marketplace activity safe.
Your Account
What is Thrifted.mt?
Thrifted.mt is Malta's marketplace for pre-loved fashion. Buyers and sellers across Malta and Gozo connect to give secondhand clothing, shoes, bags and accessories a second life. That helps people save money while keeping useful fashion in circulation.
Who can buy and sell on Thrifted.mt?
You must be at least 16 to create a Thrifted.mt account. Account holders aged 16 or 17 can browse, buy and message sellers. You must be at least 18 to sell items, complete Stripe payout onboarding and receive payouts from sales. Creating an account is free and you can sign up with Google or email.
Is it free to join?
Yes. Creating an account, browsing and listing items are free. Sellers pay 0% commission on the listed item price. Buyers pay the buyer protection fee at checkout and pay the delivery charge when they choose a paid method such as EasiPik. Sellers can also choose optional mailed materials for an EasiPik sale: a mailed shipping label costs EUR 0.79 and a mailed polybag plus label kit costs EUR 1.29. A selected mailed-material fee is deducted from that sale's proceeds.
How do I withdraw my earnings?
For current sales, set up Stripe Connect from the payout area. After an order reaches its method-specific release point, Stripe sends the sales proceeds to your connected bank account. Manual withdrawal to an IBAN is available only for a legacy wallet balance from sales completed before the Stripe Connect migration. If you still have such a balance, visit Wallet and follow the legacy withdrawal steps shown there.
How is my data kept safe?
Sensitive data is protected with encryption at rest and access controls that limit who can use it for authorised purposes. We also minimise the data shown in public and user-facing areas. See our Privacy Policy for details about the information we collect, why we use it and the rights available to you.
How do I delete my account?
Complete or resolve all outstanding orders before requesting deletion. If you have a legacy wallet balance, withdraw it first. Then go to Profile and tap Delete Account. The process permanently deletes or anonymises account data as described in our Privacy Policy. It cannot be undone and the deleted account cannot be reactivated.
